The Famous Grouse, renowned for creating blended Scotch Whiskey in Scotland – home to the grouse, which is Scotland’s national game bird – has earned a prestigious reputation as one of the world’s most famous whiskey blends. Since its founding in 1896, The Famous Grouse has created an extensive product line which has gained them a loyal customer base, making it the top-selling whiskey in Scotland and the UK for the past 40 years. 

Famous Grouse recognised the importance of luxury packaging in the drinks industry, which is why they approached us seeking beautiful, yet eco-friendly presentation packaging for their high-end new cocktail kit. The goal was to create packaging that not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal but was also practical and environmentally considerate. The design of bespoke fitments was to securely hold a 4.5L bottle of Famous Grouse, two branded glasses, and two bottles of Fever Tree.

The luxurious fluted packaging, made from slightly thicker E-flute cardboard, had internal dimensions of 400mm in length, 270mm in width, and 80mm in diameter; this design ensured that all contents of the cocktail kit fit snugly within the bespoke cardboard fitment. These materials not only reflect The Famous Grouse’s commitment to eco-friendly and recyclable practices but also allow the packaging to be used as durable storage for the whiskey.

To reflect The Famous Grouse’s sophisticated brand image, the exterior of the cocktail kit features s full digital colour print, accentuated by anti-scuff lamination to maintain its pristine condition. The print, a beautiful blend of autumnal colours, facilitates easy brand recognition; this strategic choice is designed to captivate recipients immediately upon opening the cocktail kit.

Bespoke Mailer Boxes

Incorporating bespoke mailer boxes is a strategic investment for business aiming to enhance their brand image and increase the perceived value of their products. The Famous Grouse recognised this advantage for their cocktail kit packaging.

They opted for mailer boxes made of kraft paper that matched the design of their presentation packaging, creating an elegant look. This ensured that the packaging not only looked professional but also appealed to their recipients.

Adopting these bespoke mailer boxes also meant that the cocktail kits arrived in impeccable condition, significantly enhancing the unboxing experience for recipients. The Famous Grouse understood another crucial benefit of this approach; it demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction. Utilising eco-friendly packaging that can both be recycled and kept as a keepsake for the cocktail kit entices potential customer by meeting their expectations. The designs combination of functionality and aesthetic appeal creates a memorable first impression that enhances the customer experience. 

Moreover, the exterior design of the packaging with its burgundy fitment and a colour pallet of reds and oranges that evoke a natural feel, perfectly aligns with their brand image. This strategic approach serves as an excellent social media marketing tool as recipients are likely to share their unboxing experience online, promoting brand recognition.  This not only captivates their audience but also reinforces their identity, making The Famous Grouse instantly recognisable in a crowded market.
